In our lives there are many times where we are faced with hard times. These hard times can range in severity and not only affect the financial areas of your life, but can affect your spiritual, mental, physical, emotional and social aspects of life as well.
During these hard times, it is incredibly important that you remember that despite how you are feeling, despite the situation or problem facing you and despite how helpless your situation may look, the truth of the matter is that you serve a much bigger God who has given us promises in His Word that we can stand on and believe on for victory.
If you are going through hard times, I’d like to give you 6 powerful Biblical Promises that will remind you of the goodness and mercy of our Lord.
1. God Comforts Us
God never tells us that we won’t have to endure hardship, in fact He tells us the exact opposite but He does tell us that even when we are going though trials and tribulations in our lives that He will be there to comfort us and give us peace while dealing with these trials.
2 Corinthians 1:4 “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”
Psalm 10:17 “Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.”
Psalm 23:4 “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me”
2. God Protects Us
No matter the problem or situation or how evil or terrible it may be. God gives His people protection from being destroyed or beaten by the problems that we face in life. If we are willing to place our trust and hope in Him, and give Him our lives He will be faithful to protect us from evil.
Psalm 18:30 “God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.”
Psalm 14:6 “The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the Lord will protect his people.”
Psalm 91:3 “For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.”
Psalm 121:5 “The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.”
3. God will Lead and Guide Us
Many times we are blinded by fear and by helplessness and we are lost in our own world trying desperately to find a way out of the pain and misery of our current situation, God is faithful to show us which paths to take and the actions to take in order to overcome our current situation or problem.
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
Psalm 23:1-3 “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.”
Psalm 25:12 “Who are those who fear the Lord? He will show them the path they should choose.”
Psalm 32:8 “The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”
4. God will Deliver us from Hard Times
If we lay our full trust and faith in God, He is always faithful to deliver us from our troubles. Even if we have been dealing with or struggling with troubles that have lasted a long time, we need to be thanking God, and praising Him for delivering us from our troubles because He will come through every time.
Psalm 34:17 “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”
Psalm 54:7 “For you have rescued me from my troubles and helped me to triumph over my enemies.”
5. The Troubles we Face will Strengthen our Faith and Reward us in the End
Even though the troubles we face are hard and very often unpleasant the truth of the matter is that if we look to the Lord, and continue to put our trust and faith in Him alone. He will not only help us but when we overcome our faith will be strengthened, and we will be rewarded for our faithfulness, patience and perseverance.
2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!”
1 Peter 1:7 “These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”
James 1:12 “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”
6. God will Never Abandon Us
Even in what seems like the darkest and loneliest times in our life, God has promised to never leave or forsake us. We can be encouraged that even though we may feel alone, we never are. In fact God is sitting right next to you with His arms around you waiting for you to release everything to Him so that He can help you become victorious.
Deuteronomy 31:6 ” Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Psalm 94:14 “For the Lord will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage”
There is no question that during this life on earth you will have many struggles and troubles come your way, but we as Christians can stand strong and be comforted knowing that God our creator and our Father has given us promises that we can count on to get us through and become victorious in any and every trial, trouble or tribulation that comes our way.
