Earlier this week a book was found that is claimed to be a bible that dates back to 1500 years ago, and is said to contain the Gospel of Barnabas, which was taken out in the later versions of the Bible we know and read today. This gospel closely resembles that which is taught in the Qur’an, and view Jesus Christ as a prophet that God sent to the earth, similar to Mohammed.
Barnabas for those who don’t know was considered a prophet and teacher of the church at Antioch, who worked with and was trusted by the apostles of Jesus Christ and did many great things for God. (Acts 13:1) The Bible tells us that Barnabas was a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit and strong in faith. (Acts 11:24).
The Barnabas bible or more accurately the gospel of Barnabas which is said to have been left out of the Bible we have today, claims that Barnabas refutes the claims that Jesus is the Son of God, and that the resurrection never took place. These claims of course are empty and would never have taken place and I will explain very simply why.
If Barnabas truly believed that Jesus Christ was only a prophet and was not truly the Son of God as He claimed to be, then Barnabas would have considered that blasphemy and would not have played instrumental roles in the movement of Jesus Christ and His message.
Barnabas like the Bible says could not have been a man of faith in Jesus Christ if He never truly believed that Jesus was the Son of God and was only merely a prophet sent by God.
Barnabas could not have been filled with the Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of God himself given to His Son Jesus Christ when He came to the earth. In order to receive the Holy Spirit you must be a follower of Jesus Christ, you must have a personal relationship with Him, and He must be Lord and Savior over your life. In order for this top happen you have to truly believe and have faith that what Jesus said and what He did was the truth. If Barnabas did not believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God then it would have been impossible to receive the Holy Spirit.
The truth of the matter is that in this day in age, we have come to that point in the Word of God where we are told to keep a watchful eye out for false prophets:
Matthew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.”
Matthew 24:11 “And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people.”
Mark 13:22 “For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones.”
The truth of the matter is that the “Barnabas bible” that was recently found is nothing more than a book written to closely follow the Bible, but full of lies and deceit so as to bring confusion and doubt into the minds of those who are not strongly planted and rooted in the Truth. In fact the Vatican after inspection of this book was deemed a fake because of the wordage used on the cover of the book, as well as some other things that did not line up to the “dated” time period of the book.
