God Help Me – Receiving God’s Help During Hard Times

There comes a point in everybody’s life where the problems of life or the situations that life throws at us are just too much for you to bear, and in a final reach of desperation we call out “God Help Me“.

It is at these times where we feel completely helpless and have nowhere else to turn.  We have reached the end of our rope and there is just nothing more we can do.  The good news is that calling on the Lord for help is the best thing you can do, because He has a genuine love for you and desire to want to help you through whatever you are going through all while giving you renewed hope and peace in your life.

God Help Me – 3 Keys to Receiving God’s Help for your Situation

Key 1 – Faith

One of the keys to receiving God’s help in your situation is to have faith in Him, and to have faith that He wants to help you and that He will help you. Without faith in God and His ability to help you it is virtually impossible for God to help through your current situation. I say “virtually” because there are times where He will help somebody in need in order to prove himself real to them. Hebrews 11:6 tell us:

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

We need to step out in faith, give our problems and situations to God and let Him take the reigns. When we give up trying to do things through our own efforts and instead depend and lean upon God to take care of them, we are placing our full trust in Him and when we do this He will not let us down, Ever!.

1 Peter 5:7Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Key 2 – Ask Him for Help

In order to receive God’s help you need to ask for it. Many people make the mistake of trying to exhaust everything they can do in their own power first and then ask God when the issue or problem has become too overwhelming. Simply asking God right off the bat to help you, and then letting Him take the reigns is the best way to keep from getting to the point where you are overwhelmed.

John 14:13You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.

When God takes the reigns it does not necessarily mean that your problems are solved or that your problems will disappear and you won’t have to deal with them anymore, what God will do is give you His grace to deal with the situation or issue, and He will give you guidance and advice on how to solve or work through the particular situation.

Matthew 7:8For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Key 3 – Don’t Ignore God

Once you have asked God to help you through your particular situation, you will need to make sure that you are leaving yourself open to hear from Him. Regardless of what you ask God you have to remember that God will answer, it is not a matter of “if” but “when”.

Too many times we ask for His help but then go on living our lives and dealing with the problems and situations as if He isn’t part of it. We need to come in to communion with Him, we need to seek Him and wait on Him for an answer. God uses many ways to answer our questions, and one of the more prominent ways is through His Word (Bible).

It is important that if we cry out “God help me” that we are open to hear His answer/advice. Otherwise we will continue just trying to figure out the problem or issue by ourselves, wondering why God has not answered, instead of realizing that He is answering and we just aren’t listening.

God can and will help you, He wants to help you and He wants to be able to give you His grace which will give you peace and joy even through tough situations. We need only to ask, have faith and be available and listening for His answer.
