Rapture in the Bible – Where is it Found?

The Bible speaks pretty clearly on what can be expected in the last days before the 2nd coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. While the Bible does not explicitly mention the word “rapture”, there are many verses that hint to the rapture in the Bible.

Revelation 3:10 tells us.

Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth.

and Luke 17:34-36 tells us:

I tell you, in that night there will be two in one bed. One will be taken and the other left. There will be two women grinding together. One will be taken and the other left.

John 14:1-3 goes on to say:

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am

1 Thessalonians 4:16,17 shows us:

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever

The rapture in the Bible talks about the time when Christ will take the church out of the earth before God comes to pour out His wrath on the people of this earth that have disregarded His teachings, and who have turned against Him. This wrath is known as the great tribulation.

One of the biggest debates today is not whether the rapture in the Bible will happen, but rather when it will happen. There are many who believe that the rapture will be before the great tribulation (God’s Wrath), there are those who believe in mid-tribulation rapture and then there are those who believe that the rapture will only happen after we have gone through the entire tribulation.

Regardless of when you believe the rapture in the Bible will happen the important thing to remember is that it will happen, and that Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior is coming back for us, to save us and bring us into everlasting paradise.

We need to remember that despite what happens down here on the earth, whether we are freed from the tribulation or not, is to keep our focus on Jesus Christ and remember that we are just visiting earth. Our real home is in heaven with our Lord Jesus.
