Over this past year we have seen many events and situations take place that the Bible tells us will happen in the last days. We have seen rumors of wars, a massive increase in persecuted Christians and persecution against the church in general. We can see laws that oppose the beliefs of Christians being created and enforced.
One of the biggest topics however this year has been the Blood Moons, the Shemitah, economic collapse, talk of one world government and currency and other events that are to transpire in September of 2015 that could signal the end of the world, or in my opinion the start to the great tribulation.
With all of this talk and speculation on dates and the end of the world, and what it could mean there are many people today, Christians included that are living in fear of all of the “What If’s” of the unknown events and situations to come. The biggest problem is that with all of this hype being created, we as Christians are forgetting a few key points about this whole “End Times” situation.
I strongly believe that we are living in the end times and that everything in the Bible will come to pass. However, for Christians it is important to remember that:
1. Nobody knows the Day or Hour when these Different events will Occur.
God has not given us specific dates on when end time events will happen, He has basically told us what is to come, and the different signs that will occur to usher in the end times, however he never gave us exact dates. I believe that one of the main reasons for this was that God did not want His people to focus so much on the end times and get wrapped up with all of the hype, thus distracting them from their main objective and reason for being here and that is sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
All of these people who are coming up with dates and different events they say are backed by biblical evidence are merely coming up with a opinionated guess based on how they have interpreted what they have read and studied in the Word of God or other texts.
For example today (September 13, 2015) was supposed to be the day that the economy collapsed, which at the time of writing this article has not happened. I believe that it is coming and that it has to collapse in order for the new world currency to be ushered in but again the timing of this should be irrelevant.
As Christians we know what is coming, we know what to expect and until the return of Christ we need to stay focused on what really matters, which is getting people saved.
2. God will Protect and Not Forsake His Children
Regardless of what happens in these end times, we can and should be encouraged that God will protect and be with His people, walking with us and helping us through these end time tribulations.
Does this mean that it will be a cake walk and the only people to suffer will be the un-saved? Of course not, we will still have to go through many hardships, but when it comes to God’s judgement on the earth we will be protected. We saw this in the Word of God with the plagues that God sent against Egypt. The Israelite people were sheltered from these plagues.
We can also see this with the story of Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah, and with Queen Ester. There are numerous accounts of situations that looked bleak, but because these people were faithful to God and were His children, He protected them and gave them favor over the situation.
The Bible also has many other examples and verses that show God will never leave or forsake us, and even when we walk through valleys of death he will be with us right to the end. Here are a few Bible Verses that show the promises of protection:
Psalm 37:25 “Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.”
Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Isaiah 41:10 “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
3. We Must not Forget our Mission as Christians
I touched on this earlier, however it is extremely important that in the midst of all of this turmoil, and rumors of terrible things happening and to come, that we remember our mission and purpose here on the earth. Now is not the time to get into fear for we have not been given a spirit of fear but of power love and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7).
It is our responsibility, to fervently share the gospel to the unsaved so that they may turn from their sin, accept this good news and be saved. This is by far the most important thing we can do at this point, in fact even more so now that the end times are so close, and the day of God’s judgment is coming.
We need to remember that God will protect us, he will be with us every step of the way, and the sooner the Lord comes back the sooner we can be with our Heavenly father in paradise.
