There are many times in our lives that we go through tests and trials that will seem too much to bare. These tests and trials are often used by God to help us grow in an area of our life that needs changing. This could include: faith, values, patience, anger management, or any number of things. The problem is, sometimes these tests and trials begin to take such a toll on us that we begin to remove our eyes from God to focus on the trial or test at hand. Unfortunately, it is at this point that we feel we are alone and that God is no longer with us. The good news is that God never leaves us, He is always right there with us.
Deuteronomy 31:6 “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
There is a song by Casting Crowns called: ‘I will Praise you in the storm’. It is a very powerful and uplifting song that will bring encouragement, and show us what we need to do when going through what seems an impossible trial (storm). The song begins “I was sure by now -God you would have reached down and wiped our tears away, stepped in and saved the day. But once again I say: “amen” and its still raining. As the thunder rolls, I barely hear you whisper through the rain “I’m with you. ” And as your mercy falls, I raise my hands a praise that God who gives and takes away.
It is crucial to our success in passing the test or making it through the trial , that we remember that despite how distant God feels or how bad things get, God is always right beside us. He is always there to pick us up no matter what. If we stand firm and put our faith and eyes on God during our life storms, we are promised to make it through the storms in our lives, and be greatly blessed for it.
James 1:12 “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”
This can also be seen through the story of Job. He was tested by Satan, and everything he had and owned was stripped from him: his family, health and friends. But He stood strong in the Lord and when the Lord delivered Job from his trials, he received a rich and plentiful blessing.
2 Corinthians 1:4 “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”
Psalms 9:9 “The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.”
Psalms 34:17 “The Lord hears his people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all of their troubles.”
Romans 12:12 “Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.”
“Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that you never leave me nor forsake me. Forgive me for not trusting you in the difficult times. I choose to trust you now, and I thank you for your amazing love. Open my eyes to see your hand working in my situation and help me to feel your comfort. I thank you for all of the blessings you have given me. In Jesus’ name – Amen.”
