Have you ever been faced with a hard decision in your life. A decision where you knew that you had to pick only one of the choices available to you and that either choice you chose would greatly affect your life? These kinds of decisions require a lot of thought and consideration as the choices have great impact upon your life.
As Christians we are faced with a crucial decision in our lives. We must choose between serving God and serving the pleasures of this world. This for most can be a very tough decision as the world offers many pleasures that satisfy the desires of our flesh. We can only choose one of these choices and depending on which we choose, we will gain eternal life or eternal death. It tells us this in Matthew 6:24:
“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
Today there are many people out there who are sitting on the fence trying to play both sides. They profess to be Christians and go through the basic physical motions of Christianity but they live their lives pursuing and enjoying the sinful pleasures of this world. Many of these people have been deceived into believing that because they profess to be a Christian and they are labeled as such that they are automatically saved from eternal death. Sadly this is not the case at all, in fact it tells us in God’s Word that as true Christians we are to:
Ephesians 4:22-24 “Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. put on your new nature, created to be like God–truly righteous and holy.”
We as professing Christians need to finally make that decision to wholeheartedly serve Christ and realize that in choosing Christ we are called to be like Him in every way. We must do more than just hold the Christian title, we must live the Christian lifestyle according to God’s Word. We need to let our actions speak louder than our words.
1 John 3:8-10 “But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God. So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God.”
Additional Scripture Verses
Romans 6:23 “For the wages fo sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord”
Romans 6:1 “Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?”
Passage of the Day
Dear Heavenly Father I am sorry for being undecided and following the ways of the world. I ask that you would forgive me for doing so and that you would forgive me for the sins that I have committed. I thank you for forgiving my sins and I today make the decision to follow you and only you; completely forgetting about the world and its sinful pleasures it offers. I pray and ask Father that you would help me to overcome the temptations of the enemy and that you would be there by my side to comfort me and strengthen me. I thank you Father for your goodness, love and mercy on my life. Amen.
