When We Depend on our Resources Instead of our Source

Faith is the root of Christianity, without faith we have nothing, and we can do nothing. There are many Christians out in the world today that have faith, however their faith is rooted in resources instead of being rooted in their source. It is so very important that we put our faith in our source Jesus Christ instead of putting our faith in the resources that Jesus Christ gives us in order to provide for our needs in this life.

So many times we put our dependence on our jobs, businesses, friends, electronics, or our families when in reality all of these things are just resources, which can run out, or suddenly be taken away. Even though we may believe that God is our source, the truth is made evident when our resources have been taken away, and we are left with nothing else but God.

God wants us to make Him our number one source of dependency, in fact it tells us in Matthew 6:33:

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

We need to remember that no matter what comes our way, or what God leads us to do that if we place our faith in Him as our number one source, He will take care of us and will provide us with everything we need. As we continue to depend on and place our faith in God as our number one source, our faith will grow and we will be able to overcome times of testing, and will be able to live a life that is more peaceful and less full of fear and anxiety.

Additional Verses

Hebrews 11:6 “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”

Hebrews 11:1 “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”

Matthew 6:30 “And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith”

My Prayer

Heavenly Father I come to you now and I thank you for your protecting me and providing for my every need.  Today I make the commitment to take my dependence off of the resources you have given to me, and I will place my faith and dependence solely upon you.  I thank you Lord that no matter what I go through, or what resources are taken from me that you will never leave or forsake me.  I ask in the name of Jesus that you would continue to grow my faith, so that I can live a life that is righteous and pleasing to you.  I thank you again for your goodness, protection and mercy over my life and I pray this in the precious Name of Jesus Amen!
