““If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.
Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you. They will do all this to you because of me, for they have rejected the one who sent me.”"
For many of us reading this daily Bible verse we are very blessed to be living in places where we can still openly read the Bible and pray without the fear of being killed or beaten. While the laws against Christianity and the public presence of Christian related materials is becoming more and more harsh we still do not have to be subject to the same persecutions many Christians face today.
Many unbelievers ask me how I know that Christianity is the right religion, and while I don’t really consider Christianity a religion, because it is more about an individuals personal relationship with Jesus Christ, I simply refer to this verse from John 15. In this verse we see Jesus is telling us that because we are now His children that the world will now hate us because ultimately they hated Jesus Christ first.
You see all of these movements to kick “religion” out of the nations of the world, is targeted at Christianity. If you notice all of these other religions like Jehovah’s witnesses, Muslims, Buddhism, Free Masons and thousands of other religions are not being attacked like Christianity. According to the Bible and specifically to this verse, because Christianity is one of the most if not the most hated religion around the world, then it can only be because Christianity is the one and only true religion.
We have to remember that the world is ruled by satan and is therefore full of sin, wickedness and chaos. When we become children of God we become enemies to satan because we have rejected him and chosen Jesus. This is why the world hates us and hates Christianity, and the more sinful and ungodly this world becomes, the more it will hate and persecute us for our faith in Jesus Christ.
But despite that, we can be greatly encouraged knowing that because we are now children of God, that He will protect us, and will have favor over us on this earth. The biggest encouragement however is that after death we have eternal life with Jesus Christ, where we will be with Him in Heaven forever. Even though the world may reject us and persecute us for a short time on this earth, the reward of pushing through and continuing on in our faith is a small price to pay for an eternity in Heaven with Jesus Christ.
If you have not submitted your life to Jesus Christ and would like to make Him your Lord and Savior today I encourage you to take that step of faith and become a follower of Jesus Christ today.
