My Thoughts:
This verse is a great reminder of how our ‘works’ do not mean anything to Jesus Christ unless we have fully submitted our lives to Him and our works are done with the right heart and attitude. There are so many that call themselves Christians, yet they have not fully submitted their lives to Him. They have one foot in the world and enjoy openly the pleasures it provides, while having one foot in with the Lord, making sure to go to church and do the best they can at being “good” to others.
You have others yet who preach, and do many great things in the Name of Jesus, who live double lives full of sin in the world, and again in the Word of God it reminds us that we cannot serve 2 masters, we either server Jesus Christ or we serve the god of this world(satan). You see God looks on the heart, in Proverbs 27:19 it tells us “As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects a person.” We can “fake” it and can fool many around us into believing what we want them to believe but in the end God knows our hearts and therefore knows where we really are as Christians and will judge us as such.
Like I have said many times before, it is important for us to remember that when asking Jesus to be our Lord and Savior we are to surrender our entire lives to Him, we are to turn away from the sinful lifestyle we have been living, and we must follow after Him, and must wholeheartedly serve and obey Him. Christianity is a choice, it is a choice to everyday, die to our old selves, pick up our cross and follow Jesus.
I would encourage you today, to examine your heart and your life, and if you are sitting on the fence of Christianity today I urge you to make the decision to take the full plunge on the side of Jesus Christ. He will lead you and guide you through a life that is full of Joy, happiness, purpose, success, and meaningful.
